Graphic of newspapers

After being suspended for July, Boy Scout Troop 55 in Denison will resume its monthly paper drive this Saturday, August 10, at the Pronto parking lot.

For about 35 years, the Boy Scout troop has collected used newspapers and sold them for recycling. The proceeds helped pay for summer camp fees for troop members.

The paper drive was suspended as the troop’s usual outlet for recycled papers, Siouxland Recovery, Inc., of Sioux City, is no longer taking paying for newspaper for recycling.

The troop has found a new buyer for the recycled papers, but this buyer cannot accept much cardboard.

Boy Scouts will be the Pronto parking lot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday to help unload tied, bundled or sacked newspaper. Acceptable papers may be brought in paper bags or cardboard boxes but not in plastic bags.
