At 2:13 a.m. on July 15, Andres Dejesus Garcia-Salazar, 25, of Storm Lake, was arrested for OWI, first offense.
At 9:10 a.m. on July 16, Kyle Christopher Chandler, 19, of Schleswig, was arrested for minor in possession and Marcos Rodriguez Mejia, 25, of Denison, was arrested for supplying to minors.
At 12:01 a.m. on July 14, Ignacio Negrete-Zaragoza, of Denison, reported vandalism to personal vehicles.
At 7:51 p.m. on July 17, an accident was reported at First Avenue South and Main Street in Denison. Dakota Nicole Smith, 21, of Missouri Valley, driver of a maroon 2000 Ford Expedition, stated she was traveling southbound on 14th Street and tried to stop at the stop sign at 14th Street and 1st Avenue South when her brakes did not work. She turned right onto 1st Avenue South and tried to pull into a parking lot to try to slow to a complete stop. Smith’s vehicle failed to stop and crashed into a green power transformer and a snow route sign. Smith’s driver side tire was covered in brake fluid, showing she lost her brakes. No injuries were reported at the scene. There was $5,500 damage to Smith’s vehicle and $5,500 damage to the power transformer owned by Denison Municipal Utilities.
At 1:50 p.m. on July 22, Scott Arden Thompson, 70, of Eagle Grove, driver of a black 1979 Chevrolet motor home, was traveling east in the Hy-Vee parking lot in Denison and was attempting to turn right to go south. A white 2019 TMC Motor Home was parked outside of the lines of the parking stall. Thompson failed to leave enough room when negotiating the turn and struck the motor home’s rear end causing rear end damage to both vehicles. No injuries were reported. There was $500 in damages to Thompson’s motor home and $1,500 to the other motor home.
At 12:28 p.m. on July 23, Daniel David Myers, 47, of Denison, driver of a black 2006 Dodge Ram pickup, was traveling north in the 200 block of North 10th Street. Riphin Wilson, 46, of Denison, driver of a blue 2005 Nissan Sentra, was traveling south in the 200 block of North 10th Street when Myers’s vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with Wilson’s vehicle. Myers’ vehicle lost its front left driver’s side wheel and came to rest in the grass approximately 194 feet and eight inches away from the point of impact. Wilson’s vehicle came to rest approximately 20 feet and one inch away from the point of impact. Wilson was transported by ambulance to the Crawford County Memorial Hospital. Myers complained of back pain and stated that he might transport himself to the hospital at a later time. There was $6,000 damage to Myers’ vehicle and $6,000 damage to Wilson’s vehicle. Myers was cited for failing to yield half of the roadway.
At 7:37 a.m. on July 24, a rolled vehicle at Boyer Avenue in Deloit was found with no one around and was impounded. The owner of the vehicle was identified as Kevin Baquerio Moo, of Denison.
