At 9:16 p.m. on November 9, Citaly Sanchez, 18, of Denison, was arrested for interference with official acts.

On November 10, Christopher Cervantes, 19, was arrested in Kiron on two Crawford County warrants.

At 5:09 a.m. on November 10, Lazaro Carratala Terrero, 26, of Denison, was arrested for driving while barred and OWI, 1st offense.

At 8:36 p.m. on November 11, Carloz Rosales, 18, of Denison, was arrested on an active warrant.

At 9:21 p.m. on November 12, Jared Williams was arrested on a Crawford County warrant.

At 11:14 p.m. on November 12, Dicilma Yanira Hernandez, 26, of Denison was arrested for driving under suspension.

At 7:33 p.m. on November 12, Justin Robert Andresen, 22, of Schleswig, was arrested for driving under suspension.

At 3:18 p.m. on November 13, Darry Steven Hein, 23, of Denison, was arrested on two active warrants out of Crawford County.

At 5:27 a.m. on November 13, Jaury Moises Perez Rucu, 21, of Denison, was arrested for driving under suspension.

Thefts, Miscellaneous

At 6 a.m. on November 12, there was a report of an 2002 Dodge Dakota left on the county right of way on Highway 30 one-quarter mile north of Dunlap. The driver is suspended. The vehicle was towed to the impound lot and the abandoned vehicle process was started.

At 12:25 p.m. on November 13, Jodi Head, of Denison, reported a stolen check and fraud. Someone took an envelope from the mailbox located at Yellow Smoke Park and altered the check inside and cashed it. On check #4977, the amount was changed from $22.29 to $200.29. The incident remains under investigation.


At 7:30 p.m. on November 6, Fernando Jose Garcia, 17, of Denison, was driving a gray 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse south on Deloit Boulevard just south of K Avenue when he swerved to miss a deer in the roadway and lost control. His vehicle went into the west ditch and rolled onto its top. No injuries were reported. The Mitsubishi received $10,000 damage.

At 12:35 p.m. on November 7, Jose Guillermo Altamirano, 24, of Carroll, had his silver 2018 Toyota Corolla parked in a stall on the north side of Broadway near the Main Street intersection in Denison. Altamirano was backing out of the stall and struck a blue 2011 Ford Eclipse being driven by Kimberly Allen Rothmeyer, 39, of Woodbine. Rothmeyer was traveling west on Broadway. There was $1,500 damage to Altamirano’s vehicle and $1,500 damage to Rothmeyer’s vehicle.

At 7:13 a.m. on November 7, Donna Mae Pishek, 81, of Storm Lake, was driving a white 2016 Chevrolet Impala north on Highway 59 and struck a black 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee being driven by Kristen Marie Hennings, 25, of Charter Oak, who was traveling west on Highway 30/59 at the intersection. Pishek stated that she did not see the stop sign. There was $1,500 damage to Pishek’s vehicle and $1,500 damage to Hennings vehicle. Pishek was cited for failing to obey stop or yield sign.

At 12:41 p.m. on November 7, John Perry Dvorak, 63, of Ankeny, driver of a white 2016 Chevrolet pickup, was stopped for a stop sign southbound on Highway 59 at the south junction with Highway 30. Danny Lee James, 54, of Early, driver of a silver 2016 International Prostar tractor-trailer, was eastbound on Highway 30. James did not have to stop. Dvorak failed to yield from the stop sign and pulled into the path of James’s tractor-trailer. The front of James’s vehicle impacted the passenger side of Dvorak’s vehicle. There was $20,000 damage to Dvorak’s pickup and $3,000 damage to the tractor-trailer. Dvorak was cited for failing to obey stop sign and yield right of way.

At 6:15 p.m. on November 7, Kathy Ann Schneider, 60, of Denison, driver of a multicolor 2005 International tractor, was northbound on 290th Street south of P Avenue at the bottom of a hill. Schneider was in a Case IH MX200 tractor pulling a full Brent 420 grain trailer. The tractor lost power on the incline and the tractor and grain cart rolled backwards into the ditch and against the bank, causing damage to the grain trailer and spilling the contents. There was approximately $7,000 damage to the grain cart and $3,000 worth of lost grain. Damage to the tractor was unknown. No injuries were reported.

At 7:46 a.m. on November 8, Travis Steven Webster, 16, of Charter Oak, was driving a black 2001 Pontiac Bonneville south on L51 when he crossed the center line and hit the east shoulder. He over corrected his vehicle, which went into the ditch and rolled before coming to a rest on its wheels. Webster stated he was listening to his music and was zoned out. Webster sustained minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Crawford County Memorial Hospital for treatment. Webster was cited for failure to maintain control. Waderich’s Towing removed the vehicle from the ditch. There was $5,000 damage to the vehicle.

At 3:12 p.m. on November 9, Roger Lee Peters, 72, of Denison, driver of a red 2006 Ford Ranger pickup, was reversing his vehicle on South 12th Street in Denison and struck a black 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup in the rear end. The Silverado was legally parked while the driver was dumping leaves. There was $200 damage to Peters’s vehicle and $1,000 damage to the Chevrolet pickup.

At 12:32 a.m. on November 9, Bette Cleone Christianson, 46, of Deloit, was driving a green 1995 Mercury Marquis on Highway 59 south of Vernon Voss Road when a deer entered the roadway. Her vehicle hit the deer. The deer was killed and the vehicle was a total loss.

At 5:25 p.m. on November 10, Htoo Say Paw, 35, of Denison, driver of a black 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder, was turning on Highway 30 towards 20th Street when Amanda John Bruhn, 43, of Schleswig, driver of a red 2016 Ford Edge, was entering the intersection. Bruhn impacted Paw’s vehicle on the side. No injuries were reported. There was $1,000 damage to Paw’s vehicle and $2,000 damage to Bruhn’s vehicle.

At 6:21 p.m. on November 10, there was a report of a car versus car accident at 591 8th Avenue in Manilla. No further information was available at press time.

At 6:55 p.m. on November 10, Andrew Mace was driving a 2006 GMC Sierra pickup north on Boyer Boulevard near F Avenue and struck a deer in the roadway. There was approximately $2,500 damage to the pickup. The pickup was driven away from the scene.

At 6:11 a.m. on November 11, there was a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 59 south by the Little Red Schoolhouse in Denison. No further information was available at press time.

At 4:13 p.m. on November 11, Adrian Lee Cunningham, 38, of Dow City, was driving a red 1995 Ford Mustang south on Highway 59 behind a silver 2014 Buick Enclave being driven by Kristine Kay Summerfield, 35, of Manilla. Summerfield was stopping at the stop sign at the south bucket. Cunningham did not stop and his vehicle rear-ended Summerfield’s vehicle. Summerfield reported having minor neck pain but did not want medical treatment. Cunningham was cited for following too closely. There was $2,000 damage to Cunningham’s vehicle and $300 damage to Summerfield’s vehicle.

At 5:28 a.m. on November 12, there were multiple calls about a hit and run on Highway 59 near the Bedrock Concrete plant in Schleswig. No further information was available at press time.

At 6:13 p.m. on November 12, there was a report of a vehicle versus deer accident on Highway 59 between mile markers 93 and 94. No further information was available at press time.

At 8:50 p.m. on November 12, an automobile accident with no injuries was reported at South 18th Street and Highway 30 next to Team Ford in Denison. Jenna Rae Muhlbauer, 22, of Manning, driver of a white 2019 Chevrolet Traverse, stated that she was traveling east on Highway 30 in the south lane and another driver, Mark Alan Schroeder, 65, of Manilla, driver of a gray 2005 Ford F150 pickup, was in the north lane also traveling east when Schroeder merged into the south lane and hit Muhlbauer’s vehicle. Schroeder stated he looked but did not see Muhlbauer’s vehicle when he attempted to merge into the south lane. Schroeder was issued a traffic citation for improper use of lane. There was $1,500 damage to Schroeder’s pickup and $2,000 damage to Muhlbauer’s vehicle. No injuries were reported.

At 3:28 p.m. on November 13, there was a report of a vehicle that backed into a red 2001 Chevy S10 pickup belonging to Barb Hargens while it was legally parked on the street of front of her house in Manilla.

At 11:36 a.m. on November 13, Ajak Deng was traveling north on Highway 59 when he lost control of his vehicle due to the icy roadway. His vehicle spun out and went into the west ditch. He was able to drive the vehicle out. There was damage to the rear of the vehicle on the driver’s side. No injuries were reported.

At 11:43 a.m. on November 13, Miguel Angel Perez-Cardenas, 45, of Denison, was driving a white 2012 Cadillac SRX north on Highway 59 when the vehicle lost traction due to the freezing rain that had been falling. Perez-Cardenas’s vehicle started drifting to the right and struck the guard rail causing approximately $2,000 damage down the vehicle’s passenger side. There was no damage to the guard rail.

At 1:32 p.m. on November 13, there was a report of a vehicle in the ditch by Buck Creek on Railroad Avenue, Buck Grove. A fence received damage. The vehicle was towed by Waderich’s Towing in Denison.

At 8:48 a.m. on November 13, there was a report of a deer that ran into the side of a truck that was traveling on L51.
