Thanksgiving was yesterday but any day is a good day to count your blessings and to consider how you might help those who are less fortunate.
The Goodfellows campaign is a good way to do that.
This year Goodfellows will help 173 children ages 12 and younger from 72 Crawford County families.
Donations of toys, books, clothing, quilts, blankets and other items are welcome. Monetary donations are also needed. All donations are tax deductible.
People can shop for a child by picking a card from a Goodfellows tree; they are located at Hy-Vee, Fareway, Bomgaars and the Denison Bulletin and Review office. After shopping for the child, bring the items along with the card to the Bulletin and Review office at 1410 Broadway or the West Central Community Action office at 45 North 7th Street during normal business hours.
Including the card with the items ensures that the gifts will get to the specified child.
The names of donors will be published in the Denison Bulletin and Review for the duration of the Goodfellows campaign. Donors may request to remain anonymous if they wish.
Following are donations to date, including those made after the end of last year’s Goodfellows campaign.
Terry and Judy Evers, $60; anonymous, kids’ clothing; anonymous, $50; anonymous, toys; McDonald’s of Denison, $200; Walmart, $2,000, Carol Skarin, $100.
