Denison-Schleswig Homecoming Candidates

Denison High School announced its 2019 Homecoming royalty last Friday. Homecoming festivities for the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs will take place throughout the week of October 7.

The theme for Homecoming week is “Road to Victory.”

On Monday, October 7, the community Homecoming carnival and bonfire will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the top of the football field. Grilled hamburgers and hot dogs will be served, and tacos and pupusas will be available from local vendors.

A carnival with games for all ages will also run at the same time. All ages and families are invited to join in the festivities.

Homecoming royalty will be crowned following the junior varsity football game (at about 8:30 p.m.) at the football field. The Powder Puff game will follow.

The pep rally and bonfire will take place after the conclusion of the Powder Puff game.

The public is welcome at all of the events.

On Tuesday, October 8, the night will begin at 5:30 p.m. with Pack the Gym for the freshmen, junior varsity and varsity volleyball matches.

Following the volleyball game will be the Stud Muffin Volleyball match at 9:30 p.m.

Events on Thursday, October 10 will be following the Monarchs on the Road to Victory with Volleyball games at Lewis Central and Cross Country at Atlantic.

Class games at the high school start after an all-school lunch Friday, October 11.

The parade will start at 2 p.m. Line up for the parade is on 1st Avenue North from the Post Office at Main street to 15th street. Line up begins at 1:30 pm. The parade route starts at the corner of 1st Avenue North and Main. Continues one block south on Main, turns east on Main Street, turns north on 20th Street, and ends two blocks past the 20th Street Elementary School.

High school students may attend a tailgate party before the game at the Victory Bell starting at 5 p.m. The Varsity football game begins at 7 p.m. at Monarch Field.

On Saturday, October 12, the high school Homecoming Dance will take place from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the DHS gym. Concessions will be open and dress is semi-formal. Music will be provided by Steve’s Music and a photo booth will be available for attendees.
