As the result of a joint investigation conducted by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and the Denison Police Department, three search warrants were executed, resulting in the arrest of four individuals, the law enforcement agencies announced Friday night.

The Iowa State Patrol and the Harlan Police Department K9 Unit assisted in the execution of the search warrants.

The first search warrant was on a vehicle located at Quality Foods, the second search warrant was executed at 1615 1st Avenue South and the third at 107 North 14th Street, all in Denison.

The following were arrested.

  • Christopher Caravantes, 19, of Manilla
  • Charges
  • Delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), a Class C felony
  • Possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), a serious misdemeanor
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor

  • Jeffrey Newquist, 47, of Denison
  • Charges
  • Delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), a Class C felony
  • Possession of marijuana, a serious misdemeanor
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor

  • Darry Hein, 22, of Denison
  • Charges
  • Possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), a Class B felony
  • Failure to affix a drug stamp, a Class D felony
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor

  • Shelby Hein, 26, of Denison
  • Charges
  • 2 counts of delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), Class C felonies
  • Possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a Class B felony
  • Failure to affix a drug stamp, a Class D felony
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor

All charges are merely accusations and all subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The investigation is ongoing and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office along with the Denison Police Department anticipate that more arrests will be made as a result of the investigation.
