Denison Middle School Student Council

Schools will be honoring area veterans for Veterans Day on Monday.

Following is a list of observances received as of Friday afternoon.

Denison Elementary School (20th Street School)

The Veterans Day program will last from 8:35 to 9 a.m. Students will sing patriotic songs to honor the veterans.

Broadway Elementary, Denison

The Veterans Day program will begin at 11:30 in the auditorium. The program will last about one-half hour. Once the program is over, veterans and their spouses are invited to stay and eat with the fourth and fifth grade students. The meal should be over at about 1 p.m.

Denison Middle School

The Denison Middle School Student Council is inviting veterans for lunch on Monday.

Schleswig Community Schools

The Veterans Day program will begin at 10 a.m. in the gym. All students in grades TK through grade eight will perform.

The guest speaker will be Art Joens, a World War II veteran, and his son, Al Joens, from KTIV Channel 4 News in Sioux City.

Ar-We-Va Community Schools

The Veterans Day Program will run from 2 to 3 p.m. beginning with a parade into the gym. The program will include the Pledge of Allegiance, patriotic music, a Fallen Comrades Table presented by the 7th grade civics class, flag folding by the 8th grade history class, a roll call of veterans, a poem and closing thoughts. Following the program, the veterans and their families and friends are invited to attend an informal social of refreshments and cookies in the lunchroom.

Boyer Valley Community Schools

The elementary in Dow City will host a Veterans Day program beginning at 9 a.m. in the gym.

The program will include patriotic songs, poems, a patriotic video, a short skit and the Pledge of Allegiance.

East Sac Middle School

The Veterans Day program will last from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
