Scott Beam July 11, 1958 - August 17, 2019 Scott Beam was born July 11, 1958, to Ray and Mildred (Wiegel) Beam in Denison, Iowa. Scott attended the Charter Oak-Ute Schools. The family moved to Berne, Iowa, in 1960 and then to Dow City in 1978 after Scott's father passed away. Scott was employed at Farmland Foods where he worked on the loading dock for thirty-eight years. In 2013, Scott retired from Farmland at the age of fifty-five and began to help his friends, local farmer Curt Butler and his wife Joyce, with anything they needed assistance with at their farm. This retirement-job was a joy for Scott and he was grateful to Curt and Joyce and was proud to call them his friends. Scott was a helper by nature and loved to help his family and friends whenever he was able, never wanting anything in return other than their love and friendship. Scott enjoyed passing time playing cards in the card room at Ettleman's in Dow City, and liked staying caught up on community news by chatting with his fellow card playing friends and other locals who stopped by the card room. Deer hunting and fishing were both favorite pastimes; he enjoyed attending gun shows and was proud to have fixed up a boat he could use to fish. Like many of his friends, Scott looked forward to spending time at the local sale barn, Denison Livestock Auction, on Saturday mornings. Scott considered time with family and friends to be time well spent. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mildred; and five siblings, Roxanne, in infancy, in 1954, Sandra in 1976, Steve in 1985, Stacey in 2001, and Samuel in 2008. Those remaining to cherish his memory include siblings: Stanley Beam, Sheila Beam, Shirlene Simon and husband John, and Suzette "Robin" Kroll and husband Terry, all of Dow City, Iowa, and Stuart Beam and wife Carol of Defiance, Iowa; five nieces and nephews: Kandi and husband Justin Rickert of Dow City, Chad and Jesse Kroll of Dow City, Dakota and Jericho Beam of Clarksville, Tennessee; great-nieces and great-nephew: Luci Wood, Anna Kroll, Emma Rickert and Owen Rickert all of Dow City; special friends, Curt and Joyce Butler of Dow City; and many cousins and friends.
