Norma Jean Ludwig October 8, 1934 - June 8, 2019 Norma Jean Ludwig was born at St. Anthony's Hospital, Carroll, Iowa, on October 8, 1934. She passed away at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, on June 8, 2019, at the age of eighty-four. Norma was the thirteenth of fifteen children born to Hazel and Clem Koster of Breda, Iowa. She graduated from St. Bernard's High School, Breda, Iowa, in 1952 and furthered her education at Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, Iowa, to obtain a teaching degree. She taught at Holy Spirit Catholic School in Carroll, Iowa and later graduated from Midwestern College in Denison with a Bachelor of Science degree. Norma met Romaine Ludwig at a dance at the Legion Hall in Arcadia, Iowa. They married on June 12, 1956 and were the parents of five children: Cathy, Bob, Terry, Tom and John. Norma enjoyed gardening, golfing, quilting, playing cards, socializing at the casino and spending time with her grandchildren. She was active in the American Legion Post 65 Auxiliary and St. Ann's Catholic Church, Vail, Iowa. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Romaine; and son, John. Survivors include: her children: Cathy (Tom), Bob (Lynette), Terry (Brian), and Tom (Colleen); ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Alma, Anita (Duane), Alice, and Myrna (Van); one brother, Urban (Patricia); nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial was held 11 A.M., Thursday, June 13, 2019, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Vail, Iowa, with Fr. Paul Nguyen serving as Celebrant of the Mass. Organist Irene Feilmeier provided accompaniment for the St. Ann Family Choir. Megan Ludwig-Vu and Matthew Ludwig served as lectors, Amy and Luke Schulte served as altar servers, Emily Ludwig served as gift bearer and Joe Thelen served as Eucharistic Minister. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Matthew Ludwig, Zach Ludwig, Megan Ludwig-Vu, Claire Gayle, Luke Gayle, Emily Ludwig, Seth Ludwig, Adam Ludwig, Elijah Popp and Harrison Popp. The family invited everyone to the Vail Community Building for fellowship and lunch provided by the St. Ann Parish Teams and catered by Lidderdale Country Store. A private inurnment was held at St. Ann Catholic Cemetery in Vail. The Huebner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
