Donna June Weiss March 8, 1925 - November 14, 2019 Donna June Weiss was born March 8, 1925, in Woodbine, Iowa, the daughter of Alexander and Marie Adams. She passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of ninety-four. Donna graduated from Woodbine High School and Normal College, becoming a rural school teacher and substitute. She was united in marriage to John Weiss in June of 1943. Donna was a town girl but became a farm wife to the fullest. She raised 1000 chickens, dressed them and sold them to customers, grew a big garden, canning and freezing the bounty, and helped with chores. John passed away in 1984. After which, Donna moved into the town of Dow City. Serving in the Community of Christ Church and volunteering in the community were her passions. She devoted many summers helping at church camps and reunions. Among the numerous boards Donna served on included: State Barber Board, Boyer Valley School Board, T.A.P. Board, Wesco Board, Crawford County Republican Chairman, Republican Women's Chairman, Farm Bureau, American Legion Auxiliary and County and State Extension Council. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; and her sister, Norma. Survivors include: three daughters: Barbara and her husband, Donald, Cathy and her husband, Gene, and Marilyn and her husband, Ace; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at Community of Christ Church in Dow City, Iowa. Ace Ettleman and Carl Hope served as officiants with interment in the Dow City Cemetery. Pianist Wendi Godwin provided accompaniment for congregational hymn "He Leadeth Me" and for soloist David Argotsinger singing "The Lord's Prayer" and "Whispering Hope" and soloist Lauren Malone singing "Freely Freely." Serving as honorary pallbearers were Donna's Great-Grandchildren; Katie Muenchrath, Mia Godwin, Brody Muenchrath, Parker Gatewood, Maci Godwin, Paige Gatewood, Clint Brummett, Connor Garrett, Lilah Godwin, Colin Garrett, Kara Godwin, Cael Garrett, Emma Reisz, Owen Reisz, Eryn Reisz, Trevor Malone and Lauren Malone. Serving as pallbearers were Donna's Grandchildren; Jill Muenchrath, Kelly Garrett, Jody Gatewood, Roger Godwin, James Godwin, Julie Malone and Molly Reisz. The family invited everyone to the Dow City Community Building for fellowship and lunch catered by Deb's Deli. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
