At 11:44 a.m. on June 5, Nicholas Alfonso Mendez, 18, of Denison, was arrested for assault.


At 8 a.m. on June 9, there was a report of a window broken on a door at the park in Kiron. It appears the door was kicked or hit by an object, shattering the glass.


At 3 p.m. on June 2, it was discovered that the guard railing had been struck by the Denison Elementary School located at 20th Street and Broadway. The tracks indicate that a vehicle was traveling northbound on 20th Street and struck the curb and railing on the east side of the street. The railing was broken and large gouges in the lawn were noted. There were tracks leaving the scene in the grass onto the elementary school parking lot. The elementary school staff was contacted to obtain the security footage. There was approximately $1,500 damage to the guard rail and lawn.

At 5:55 p.m. on June 5, a motor vehicle accident was reported at 1st Avenue North and 18th Street in Denison. Rosa Evelia Chino Hernandez, 50, of Denison, driver of a silver 2009 Chevrolet Traverse, was making a left turn from 18th Street onto 1st Avenue North, which is an uncontrolled intersection. Hernandez was attempting to turn and was crossing into the lane of travel of Ashlee Ann Launderville, 30, of Charter Oak, driver of a white 2004 Chevrolet Impala. The vehicles hit at the intersection causing damage to both. Launderville was on 1st Avenue North when Hernandez pulled from 18th Street. There was $2,500 damage to the passenger front area of the Hernandez vehicle. There was $2,500 damage to the front and driver’s side area of Launderville’s vehicle. The Hernandez vehicle was towed from the scene and Launderville’s vehicle was driven away. Both drivers refused medical treatment. Hernandez was charged with failure to have a valid license or permit for operation of a motor vehicle and failure to yield to vehicle on the right. Launderville was charged with failure to prove security against liability (accident).

At 5 p.m. on June 7, a silver 2007 Chrysler Pacifica was legally parked in the driveway at 1327 3rd Avenue North and a gray 2018 Subaru Impreza Sport was parked on the north side of 3rd Avenue North across the street from 1327 3rd Avenue North. A family member of the owner of the Chrysler Pacifica was inside the car and knocked the car out of gear. Soon after, the Pacifica rolled out of the driveway striking the Subaru. No injuries were reported.
