Arrests and Warrants

At 10:43 p.m. on April 2, Paul James Burk, 47, of Denison, was arrested for domestic assault, 1st offense.

At 4:48 a.m. on March 2, Mario Eliseo Aragon Polanco was arrested and taken to jail on a Crawford County warrant.

Thefts and Break-Ins

At 7 a.m. on April 1, Orlanda Zamago, of Denison, reported the theft of a backpack from his unlocked vehicle. The backpack contained an Apple MacBook laptop computer and a college text book.

At 11:43 a.m. on April 1, Jeff Ziegman reported a break-in to the back of a building at 122 Main Street in Kiron.

At 8:11 a.m. on March 2, Sparky’s in Vail reported missing money from the cash drawer on three different occasions.

At 11:40 a.m. on April 3, Nick Weier, of Denison, reported two accounts had been opened in his name; a Lowes credit card - Synchrony Bank and Fingerhut through web banker, which had a $132 balance. Weier has contacted the credit bureau.

Fire Calls

At 5:32 p.m. on April 2, a grass fire was reported on a dirt road by the golf course in Schleswig.

At 10:09 p.m. on April 3, a call was made for an agency assist for a transformer fire at the Community Building in Defiance.


At 9:37 p.m. on March 31, James August Segebart, 61, of Denison, driver of a white 2006 Buick LaCrosse, was traveling north on Donna Reed Road in Denison when a deer entered the roadway. Segebart was unable to stop and struck the deer. No injuries were reported. Segebart’s vehicle sustained $2,000 in damage.

At 1:07 p.m. on April 1, Carolyn Joyce Nelson, 69, of Charter Oak, driver of a gray 2015 Dodge Journey, hit a gray 2012 Nissan driven by Kristina Mari Jones, 40, of Harlan, in the Walmart parking lot in Denison. Nelson’s vehicle sustained $500 in damages and Jones’ vehicle had $400 in damage.
