At 11:32 a.m. on October 28, Karis Mark Gluesing, 56, of Ute, driver of a silver 2006 Ford F150 pickup, was traveling north on county gravel road 110th Street. Gluesing entered the east ditch, drove quite some distance across a level empty farm field and ran into the bottom of a large circular grain bin half-full of harvested corn. The airbag was deployed and the vehicle came to rest against the grain bin. The large grain bin site sits on the east side of 110th Street at the intersection with J Avenue and is on private property. Damage was done to the side of the bin and corn leaked out onto the ground. When asked about the incident the driver stated that he didn’t remember the accident and that he had blacked out. The pickup was towed to the Crawford County Impound Lot. Gluesing was cited for failure to provide proof of financial liability. There was approximately $10,000 damage to the pickup and $10,000 damage to the grain bin.
