Arrests

At 9:35 p.m. on November 27, Michael John Bendixen, 20, of Ida Grove, was arrested for driving under suspension.

At 4:08 p.m. on November 28, James Jerrold Gangestad, 41, of Denison, was arrested for criminal mischief, 5th degree. According to the criminal complaint filed in district court, Gangestad is accused of punching and breaking the rear passenger window on a vehicle.

At 1:49 p.m. on November 29, Oscar Nehemias Shul Agruilar, 36, of Denison, was arrested for domestic abuse assault for punching, kicking and shoving a victim, causing bruises.

At 2:08 p.m. on November 30, Joaquin Mauricio Castro, 55, of Denison, was arrested for public intoxication.

Fires

At 10:31 p.m. on November 29, the Ricketts Fire Department responded to a report of Christmas lights on fire near Maple Street and 1st Street.

Accidents

At 5:11 a.m. on November 5, Tha Wah, 47, of Omaha, Nebraska, was driving a silver 2002 Toyota east on Highway 30 between Arion and Dow City. Wah lost control of her vehicle which crossed the center line and collided with a bridge. The vehicle received approximately $5,000 damage.

More information was provided in an incident report about an accident that involved a power pole on November 18. At 9:15 p.m. Randy Ray Stoberl, 57, of Manning, was driving a maroon 2013 Chevrolet Silverado K1500 north in the 3100 block of 240th Street. Stoberl lost control of his vehicle, which traveled into the west ditch. The vehicle caught a guide wire for a power pole and broke the power pole. There was $2,000 damage to the pickup. Damage to the power pole, owned by MidAmerican Electric, was estimated at $500.

More information was provided in an incident report about a semi-tractor and trailer that went off the road on Highway 30 near Vail during the precipitation that fell on Tuesday, November 26. Lance Eugene Williams, of Bellevue, Nebraska, was driving the semi west when he lost control due to the ice and slush on Highway 30. Williams took the north ditch to avoid oncoming traffic. The semi-tractor trailer was left in the ditch overnight.

At 6:30 a.m. on November 27, Cody Allen Totten, 26, of Dow City, was driving a red 1993 Ford Ranger east on Highway 30 when the vehicle began to fishtail due to the snow- and ice-covered road. The pickup slid around and entered the south ditch and rolled onto its top. Totten exited the vehicle and was checked out by EMS but refused treatment. The pickup received $6,000 damage.

A two-vehicle accident occurred at 11:26 a.m. on November 29 on Avenue C in Denison. Kathandra Raquel Catu, 48, of Denison, was driving a white 2009 Nissan southeast on Avenue C. Kevin Aaron Fernancy Baqueiro Moo, 20, of Denison, was driving a white 2013 CMC Terrain and was facing southeast on Avenue C and was stopped to turn left onto 2nd Avenue North. Catu’s vehicle struck Baquiero Moo’s vehicle. She was cited for failure to maintain control. Her vehicle received $2,000 damage and Baqueiro Moo’s vehicle received $1,500 damage.

At 10:15 a.m. on November 30, Amanda Willems reported at hit-and-run accident in Dow City sometime between 5 p.m. the day before and 10 a.m. An unknown party struck the rear of a parked vehicle.
