On September 21, a warrant was requested for Jacob Mark Helken, 40, for violation of a no-contact/ protective order for contempt. He was arrested on October 1 and released from the Crawford County Jail on the same day after $300 bail was posted.
At 10:11 p.m. on September 28, Gabriel Flores-Zamudio, 24, was arrested for driving while barred.
At 6:18 p.m. on September 29, Jeffery Christopher Potter, 40, was arrested for driving under suspension.
At 12:57 p.m. on October 1, Nathanael Seth Herrin, 29, of Denison, was driving a Cub Cadet while intoxicated. He was arrested for no driver’s license, driving while suspended and theft in the 1st degree, a class C felony.
At 7:23 p.m. on October 2, Kerrick Shawn Jakes Jr., 24, of Omaha, NE, was arrested for possession of marijuana, 1st offense.
At 4:13 p.m. on September 29, there was a reported of a possible stolen gun. The incident remains under investigation. No further details were available at press time.
At 4:52 p.m. on September 30, Mick Gordon of Dow City, had Rudbell Bladmir Cruz-Ayala, 30, of Ida Grove, in custody for stealing. Cruz-Ayala was arrested for theft in the fifth and was released from the Crawford County Jail on October 1 on his own recognizance.
At 10:37 a.m. on October 1, Carol Crampton, of Kiron, reported an abandoned camper on the road since Saturday. It was towed by Waderich Towing in Denison to the landfill as an abandoned vehicle.
At 12:12 a.m. on October 1, multiple callers reported three horses on Highway 30 near N Avenue in Denison. The horses were located at Western Iowa Tech Community College. Law enforcement assisted in walking two horses back to the residence at 2884 Highway 30.
At 7:58 p.m. on September 20, Samantha Reandeau hit a young deer on Deloit Boulevard and K Avenue in Denison. There was minor damage to the van. A salvage tag was issued.
At 9:50 a.m. on September 30, Michael Walczak reported that a deer came out of the south ditch located on Highway 141 two miles east of the Kenwood Road turnoff and ran into the driver’s side cab of his pickup.
At 8:50 p.m. on October 1, a two-vehicle, property-damage only accident occurred on 16th Street and Broadway in Denison. Joshua Peter Ahrenholtz, 25, of Denison, driver of a black 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, admitted to not making a complete stop at the intersection of 16th Street and Broadway, causing Janet Louise LaRue, 87, of Denison, driver of a blue 2011 Ford Escape, to hit the front passenger side of his vehicle. Ahrenholtz said he did not see the LaRue vehicle. Ahrenholtz was cited for failing to obey stop or yield sign. There was $4,500 damage to Ahrenholtz’s vehicle and $4,500 damage to LaRue’s vehicle.
At 11:02 a.m. on October 2, Tine Steffens reported that her vehicle, a black 2014 Ford Escape, had been involved in a hit and run. Steffens believed the incident took place within the hour of reporting it, however she was not sure when or where it happened. She had been various places in the city of Denison, including Walmart and Subway, but only noticed it as she was leaving Subway. There was $1,200 damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle. There were no witnesses or reported injuries at the time.
