Arrests and Citations

At 6:18 p.m. on January 25, Brittany Nicole Hedges, 28, of Denison, was arrested for violating a no-contact order.

At 1:23 a.m. on January 26, there was a report of a red car following and harassing a female walking east in the 1800 block of First Avenue South in Denison. The driver of the car was cited for no driver’s license. The female was driven to her home. The name of the person cited was not included with the incident report.


At 11:27 a.m. on January 27, a vehicle was reported stolen in Arion. The vehicle was recovered. Charges are pending.


At 2:07 p.m. on January 18, Gary Lee Baker, 33, of Logan, driver of a gray 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, was traveling north on county blacktop L51 when he lost control of his vehicle near the intersection of M Avenue due to icy road conditions. The pickup left the traveled portion of the roadway and struck the ditch to the left, causing damage to the entire front of the vehicle. A minor injury was reported at the scene. The pickup sustained approximately $7,500 in damages.

At 2:15 p.m. on January 25, Eva Patterson, 42, of Denison, driver of a green 2007 Kia, was backing out of a parking stall at Walmart in Denison when her vehicle struck a white 2008 Ford Taurus owned by Chad John Steinkuehler, 47, of Denison, causing approximately $2,000 worth of damage. Patterson’s vehicle had no damage. Patterson was cited for no insurance - accident, and operating without a valid license.

At 9:35 a.m. on January 26, Diego Antonio Estrada Castro, 18, of Denison, driver of a green 1998 Lexus, was at the intersection of South Main Street and Highway 30 in Denison when his vehicle slid and struck the rear quarter panel of Eric Noel Guerrero’s black 1999 Honda Civic. There was $2,000 damage to the Lexus and $5,000 damage to the Honda Civic. Estrada Castro was cited for no insurance - accident, and failure to maintain control.

At 9:09 a.m. on January 27, Juventino Cortez Ruiz, 53, of Denison, lost control of his red 2006 Toyota Corolla while turning onto Highway 30 from Highway 59. His vehicle struck a light pole. There was $1,000 damage to the light pole and $5,000 damage to the Toyota. Cortez Ruiz was issued a citation for failure to maintain control.

From the Sac County Sheriff’s Office

Kiron woman arrested on

outstanding warrants;

also charged with drug possession

Following a traffic stop for an equipment violation on Sunday, January 27, Linda Ann Baker, 46, of Kiron, was arrested by the Sac County Sheriff’s Office on outstanding warrants from Buena Vista and Crawford counties.

Her vehicle was stopped at 2:07 a.m. at 270th Street and Highway 71.

She was transported to the Sac County Jail in Sac City.

The Sac County Sheriff’s Office said that prior to arriving at the jail, Baker was asked by the arresting deputy if she had any controlled substances on her person. She reportedly told the deputy that she did not.

During the booking process, Baker was found to be in possession of 0.68 grams of methamphetamine and a glass smoking device.

Baker was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor, and possession of a controlled substance in a correctional institution, a Class D felony.

All person are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
