The sheriff’s office on October 23 provided more information about an October 18 report of a shattered glass panel in the front walk-in door at the Dow City-Arion Fire Station. The supplemental information says a video from the camera system showed that a trash can was blown by the wind into the glass door.
At 10 a.m. on September 20, Richard Hanlin reported vandalism to a new round concrete picnic table at the city park in Schleswig. Someone removed the round plastic cover which protects the painted American Legion insignia insert on top of the table, causing damage to the painted insignia. Estimated damage to the picnic table was $150.
At 12:34 p.m. on October 24, the sheriff’s office received a report of neglected animals on 390th Street north of Highway 141.
At 8:12 p.m. on October 26, Jasmin Matute reported that sometime between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. someone broke a window and entered her residence in Ricketts. She stated that the person took about $20 in cash. Nothing else was reported missing.
At 9 a.m. on October 26, Michelle O’Brien reported a possible break-in and theft of items at a residence in Ricketts.
At 5:31 p.m. on October 27, Mark Sharp, of Schleswig, reported a propane tank tipped over and blue paint on it.
At 2:14 a.m. on October 23, Sage Michael Angelo, 26, of Denison, was arrested on driving while suspended charges and drug paraphernalia charges.
At 12:41 a.m. on October 24, Moses Arturo Escobar, 18, of Denison, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 2:06 a.m. on October 27, an underage drinking party in Manilla was reported. Three males over the age of 18 were cited. They are Seth Andrew Woebke, 20, of Manilla; Rylan Avery Hass, 18, of Manning; and Dakota Larson Allen Horton, 18, of Irwin.
At 6:20 p.m. on October 26, there was a report of John Deere tractors pulling red wagons and running stop signs on L51 in Ricketts. A tractor was stopped for failing to stop at the stop sign.
At 6:40 p.m. on October 20, Christi Saucedo, 47, of Denison, driver of a silver 2009 Toyota Sienna, backed into a white 2011 Nissan Versa on Broadway in Denison. Saucedo’s vehicle received $500 damage to the rear bumper and the Nissan received $1,200 damage to the driver’s side door that was caved in.
At 3:40 p.m. on October 22, Ponciano Jimenez-Vargas, 38, of Denison, was driving a silver 2005 Cadillac DeVille east on 5th Avenue North in Denison when Raelee Ann Hildebrant, 32, of Denison, driver of a black 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, entered the intersection and t-boned the Cadillac. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were driven way. Hildebrant was cited for failing to yield to vehicle on right. There was $2,000 damage to Hildebrant’s vehicle and $3,000 damage to Jimenez-Vargas’s vehicle.
At 6:49 p.m. on October 23 there was a truck versus deer accident reported one or two miles west of Vail. The truck received minor damage to the front bumper.
At 8:08 p.m. on October 26, there was a report of a car versus deer accident on Highway 59 south of S Avenue in Denison. No further details were available at press time.
