Arrests, Citations and Warrants

At 12:36 a.m. on October 18, Nyachan Jocklaw, 32, of Denison, was arrested and jailed at the Crawford County Jail for public intoxication while at the Crawford County Courthouse.

At 10:56 p.m. on October 19, Joel Sivaja was cited for driving under suspension and person under legal age.

At 7:50 p.m. on October 19, Nyakaka Joka was arrested on a valid Crawford County warrant.

At 1:38 p.m. on October 20, Trevor Brock was arrested for driving while license barred.

Thefts, Vandalism

and Miscellaneous

At 11:50 a.m. on October 14, a vehicle was reported stolen. An incident report updated on October 19 said the vehicle was stuck on Deloit Boulevard one mile south of Deloit, and before the owners could remove the vehicle, it was stolen.

At 11 a.m. on October 19, Candi Denker, of Denison, reported a theft from a credit card. She noticed an unauthorized charge on her Discover card in the amount of $454.64.

At 8:10 a.m. on October 19, there was a report of a van in the ditch at R Avenue east of the Westcott Road in Denison. The white Ford Windstar van, which belongs to Ryan Halsey, was towed to the impound lot.

At 3 a.m. on October 20, a report was received involving criminal mischief that occurred at 1407 3rd Avenue South in Denison. Three tires were slashed on a vehicle parked outside a residence.

At 5:53 a.m. on October 21, there were reports of graffiti painted on several buildings in Deloit - the north side of the community building, a shed at 316 Maple Street and an unattached garage located at 300 Nassua Street.

At 8:54 p.m. on October 20, Wayne Sahl, of Denison, reported a stolen car trailer taken sometime that night.

Grass Fire

At 4:05 p.m. on October 20, a grass fire was reported near the buildings at the county landfill located at 2150 Buffalo Road near Denison.


At 6:32 p.m. on October 16, Shawn Dean Freeman, 19, of Schleswig, driver of a black 2003 Ford Taurus, was traveling north on Main Street in Denison when the traffic light turned red. Freeman stated that his brakes did not properly work and his vehicle hit the rear end of a white 2009 GMC Yukon, being driven by Annette Lynn Sholtze, 66, of Charter Oak. Scholtze was stopped at the intersection. No injuries were reported. There was $1,500 to Freeman’s vehicle and $1,000 damage to Sholtze’s vehicle.

At 4:57 a.m. on October 17, Ilma Jerinimo, 33, of Denison, driver of a cream colored 2007 Honda Accord, and Travis Matthew Smith, 30, of Carroll, driver of a silver 2008 Kia Sorento, were both westbound on Highway 30 in Denison when Jerinimo ran into the back of Smith’s vehicle. Jerinimo’s vehicle sustained approximately $4,500 in damages and Smith’s vehicle sustained approximately $2,500 in damages. Jerinimo was cited for no driver’s license and Smith was cited for no insurance.

At 1:26 p.m. on October 19, Mark Andrew Hunt, 56, of Holstein, driver of a gold 2014 Jeep Wrangler, was stopped at the intersection of Highway 59 and Highway 39 in Denison. Rhonda Ruth Christensen, 71, of Manilla, driver of a silver 2017 Chrysler Pacifica van, was stopped at the southbound side of the road waiting to turn left to head north onto Highway 39. Christensen was up next in the rotation of the next car to proceed, which she did. Within that time frame, Hunt was distracted and accelerated, which caused his vehicle to strike Christensen’s vehicle in the rear end. Hunt’s vehicle was driven away with no damage and Christensen’s vehicle was towed because it was disabled. There was $5,000 damage to Christensen’s vehicle. No injuries were reported and no citations were issued.

At 3:24 p.m. on October 19, there was a report of a wagon in the ditch located at the City Shed in Aspinwall. A company from Carroll cleaned up beams that were on the roadway. The road was shut down for a few hours. No injuries were reported.
