Arrests

At 9:48 p.m. on October 31, an incident of domestic abuse was reported at 411 Cedar Avenue in Charter Oak. Arrested were Jacque Lynn Behrens, 50, and David Joseph Slinger, 61, for domestic abuse assault, simple, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Vandalism

At 2:42 a.m. on November 2, an apartment located at 906 Broadway in Denison was vandalized by having a brick thrown at the kitchen window. No suspects at this time.

Accidents

At 7:36 p.m. on October 31, Larissa Corinne Wishon, 23, of Denison, driver of a black 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, and Jennifer Lynn Chan, 36, of Denison, driver of a red 2008 Pontiac Torrent, were eastbound in the left lane of Highway 30 approaching 14th Street. Chan was slowing down and Wishon struck the rear of Chan’s vehicle. There was $1,500 damage to Wishon’s vehicle and $3,500 damage to Chan’s vehicle. Wishon was cited for failure to maintain control.

At 6:34 p.m. on November 1, Allan William Gierstorf, 74, of Schleswig, driver of a red 2001 Ford F350 pickup, was stopped at the intersection of Highway 59 and E16. Kyle Aleven Jerald Buum, 29, of Beresford, SD, driver of a white 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV, was stopped at the intersection of Highway 59 and E16 behind Gierstorf. Gierstorf backed into Buum’s vehicle causing estimated damage of $4,500. Gierstorf stated he backed up because a semi was making a wide turn. No injuries to either party were reported. Both vehicles were able to be driven away. There was no damage to Gierstorf’s vehicle.

At 5:58 p.m. on November 2, an accident reported at Highway 59 and the south Highway 30 intersection in Denison. Angelica Lucas, 31, of Denison, driver of a blue 2007 Pontiac G6, was traveling east on Highway 30 when she met head-on with Kristin Marie Arkfeld, 29, of Harlan, driver of a gray 2013 Nissan Altima, who was stopped at the stop sign on Highway 59. Arkfeld stated she looked but did not see Lucas coming and failed to yield to oncoming traffic. No injuries were reported. The driver and passenger air bags deployed in the Lucas vehicle. There was $2,000 damage to the Lucas vehicle and $2,000 damage to the Arkfeld vehicle. Lucas was cited for failure to have a valid license and failure to prove liability, accident. Arkfeld was cited for failure to obey stop sign.

At 7:26 a.m. on November 4, Bobbie Weber reported a car/deer accident at 2550 Donna Reed Road in Denison. The vehicle was towed and the DNR was notified about the deer. No injuries were reported.

At 9:38 p.m. on November 3, it was reported that Elizabeth Drost hit a deer on 350th Street and C Avenue.
