All-Rolling Valley Conference baseball-softball teams out

All-RVC teams out

The 2018 All-Rolling Valley Conference baseball and softball teams were recently released by league officials.

In baseball, Ar-We-Va had four all-conference selections with one Boyer Valley athlete recognized.

Ar-We-Va had three first-team selections in junior catcher Drew Schurke, junior shortstop Keegan Simon and sophomore center fielder Dalton Ehlers.

Rocket junior pitcher Henry Segebart also was named to the second team, as was Boyer Valley senior outfielder Ryan Lehan.

Schurke earned a spot on the first team for the second year in a row after being honored as a utility player as a sophomore.

Schurke led Ar-We-Va with a .456 batting average, while also leading the team with 26 hits, seven doubles, 22 runs batted in and 22 runs scored.

He also stole 15 bases in 15 attempts and had a 4-1 record as a pitcher with a 2.45 earned run average in 40 innings of work.

Simons hit .346 with 18 hits in 52 at bats.

Ehlers batted .344 for the Rockets with 22 hits on the year, including two doubles. He added nine

RBIs and scored 18 runs.

Segebart turned in a 5-2 record on the mound for Ar-We-Va with a 2.91 ERA in 43 1/3 innings.

He allowed 41 runs (18 earned) on 53 hits with 38 strikeouts and 14 walks.

At the plate, Segebart hit .274 with 17 hits in 62 at bats, adding two doubles with nine RBIs.

Lehan was a .283 hitter for BV this past season, as the senior had 13 hits in 46 bats with four doubles, 11 RBIs and nine runs.

He also was 9-of-9 in the stolen-base department.

Ar-We-Va tied for third with Woodbine in the final RVC standings with 8-6 records. Overall, the Rockets finished 12-8.

BV, on the other hand, finished 3-11 in the RVC play and 7-12 overall.

Three area girls were honored on the all-conference softball teams.

Boyer Valley senior Lindsey Anderson was a first-team selection as a utility player.

She was honored on the first team for the second year in a row.

BV senior pitcher Grace Reineke earned a spot on the second team, one year after being a first-team selection.

Ar-We-Va senior Paige Lampman also was a second-team pick as a utility player.

Anderson hit .361 for BV with 26 hits in 72 at bats with 10 doubles, adding 11 RBIs and 15 runs scored for the Lady Bulldogs.

She also stole 11 bases in 11 attempts.

Reineke turned in an 8-13 record as a pitcher with a 9.74 ERA in 110 innings of work.

She gave up 169 runs (153 earned) on 164 hits with 97 strikeouts and 61 walks.

At the plate, Reineke batted .319 with 22 hits, seven RBIs and 16 runs on the year.

Lampman hit .302 for Ar-We-Va with 19 hits, including three doubles and one triple. She also drove in 13 runs and crossed the plate 13 times.

Ar-We-Va finished 2-12 in RVC play and 3-13 overall, while BV was 7-7 in the league and 8-14 overall.
