All-Rolling Valley Conference basketball teams released

All-RVC basketball 2018-19

The 2018-19 Rolling Valley All-Conference girls’ and boys’ basketball teams were recently announced by league officials.

On the girls’ side, Ar-We-Va and Boyer Valley each had two athletes honored on the top two teams.

For Ar-We-Va, senior guard Emilee Danner was honored on the first team with sophomore forward Jadeyn Smith being a second-team recipient.

Danner earned a spot on the league’s top team for the second straight year and third time in her career after being a first-team selection as a freshman.

She missed all but three games her sophomore season with a torn ACL.

For BV, sophomore point guard Katelyn Neilsen landed a position on the first team, while senior forward Chelsey Fundermann was honored on the second team.

Conference champion and Class 1A state tournament qualifier CAM had three girls honored, including two first-team selections in seniors Madison Gettler and Paige McAfee.

Gettler is on the first team for the third consecutive year, while McAfee earned a spot on the first team for the second straight season after being a second-team pick as a sophomore.

Filling out the first team are junior Hannah Whitver of Glidden-Ralston, sophomore Tatum Grubbs and freshman Macy Emgarten of Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton and sophomore Danielle Hoyle of Paton-Churdan.

Whitver was put on the first team for the second straight year. Hoyle inched up to the first team after being a second-team selection as a freshman.

Seniors Sammy Brown of G-R and Jenna Beyers of Paton-Churdan both were honored on the second team for the second straight year.

On the boys’ side, conference champion Ar-We-Va had three players honored, including two first-team selections.

Boyer Valley also had three athletes recognized, including one first-team honoree.

For Ar-We-Va, senior point guard Drew Schurke and senior forward Keegan Simons were honored on the first team, while senior forward Derek Oeser earned a spot on the second team.

Schurke landed a spot on the first team for the third straight year, while Simons is a first-team recipient for the second year in a row.

For BV, junior forward Lucas Berens earned a spot on the first team, while junior forward Dylan Berens and junior guard Gavin Reineke both were second-team selections for the Bulldogs.

League runnerup Exira/EH-K also had three boys honored, including two first-team picks in senior point guard Cole Burmeister and senior post player Dakota Rold.

Burmeister earned a spot on the first team for the second straight year, while Rold moved up to the first team after being a second-team pick as a junior.

Exira/EH-K senior forward Josh Pettepier was honored on the second team.

Coon Rapids-Bayard senior Ben Obert was recognized on the first team for the fourth time in his career.

West Harrison senior forward Ty Houston was a first-team selection after being a second-team pick as a junior, while Woodbine sophomore guard-forward Layne Pryor moved up to the first team after being a second-team choice as a freshman.
