The Ar-We-Va girls and boys picked up Rolling Valley Conference victories over Coon Rapids-Bayard on Friday night at Coon Rapids.
In the opener, Ar-We-Va’s Emilee Danner and Jadeyn Smith combined for 49 points, as the Rocket girls earned a 65-35 victory.
In the nightcap, the Ar-We-Va boys placed four in double figures, as Matt Wilken’s club remained perfect on the season with a 64-44 triumph over the host Crusaders.
With Friday’s victory, Ar-We-Va moved to 8-2 in the RVC and 9-3 overall on the season.
Ar-We-Va led by only two points (15-13) after one quarter, but the Rockets then outscored the Crusaders 50-22 the rest of the way for the lopsided win.
Danner paced the Rockets with a double-double effort of 30 points and 14 rebounds. She drained three of her four three-point baskets and scored 19 of her 30 in the first half.
Smith complemented Danner with 19 points and five boards. She tallied 13 of her 19 points before halftime.
Leslie Luft added 12 points for the Rockets, as she went into halftime with eight of those 12.
"They (CR-B) broke our press in the first half and we didn’t take care of the ball. We got a lot of tips and loose balls in the second half. It was a good game by all, especially Danner and Smith," commented Ar-We-Va coach Dan Kock, whose team beat CR-B for the second time this season.
Ar-We-Va won 60-20 back on November 30 at Westside.
The Class 1A No. 8 Ar-We-Va boys continued their unbeaten season on Friday night, as the Rockets improved to 10-0 in the RVC and 12-0 overall.
Keegan Simons paced the winners with 19 points to go with eight boards, four assists, three steals and two shot blocks.
Henry Segebart added 15 points and two steals on the night.
Wyatt Neumann had a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards, while Derek Oeser finished with 10 points and two assists.
Will Ragaller also had five points, five boards and three assists, while Drew Schurke finished with three points, three boards and six assists for the Rockets.
Friday’s victory was the second of the season for Ar-We-Va over CR-B, following up a 57-42 win back on Nov. 30 at Westside.
