The Ar-We-Va girls and boys picked up nonconference victories over Ridge View in a pair of makeup basketball games on Saturday at Westside.
In the opener, the Ar-We-Va girls rallied from a nine-point deficit after three quarters en route to a 64-54 victory.
In game two, the Ar-We-Va boys turned a 35-21 halftime lead into a 72-48 triumph over the visiting Raptors.
With Saturday’s win, Ar-We-Va moved to 11-6 overall on the season.
The Rockets actually trailed 49-41 after three quarters, but then outscored Ridge View 23-5 over the final eight minutes for the win.
Senior Emilee Danner fueled Ar-We-Va’s rally in the fourth, as she netted 20 of the Rockets’ 23 points, finishing the day with a double-double effort of 32 points and 12 rebounds to go with eight steals, four assists and two shot blocks.
Jadeyn Smith complemented Danner with her own double-double performance of 17 points and 11 boards to go with two blocks.
Leslie Luft added seven points and six boards, while Hannah Kraus had six points and two boards.
"We changed our defense to start the fourth quarter and extended our pressure out to their shooters. That seemed to change the pace back in our favor," commented Ar-We-Va coach Dan Kock.
The Ar-We-Va boys kept their perfect season alive with their 24-point victory on Saturday.
Keegan Simons posted another double-double with 21 points and 13 boards, as the Class 1A No. 7 Rockets improved to 17-0 on the season.
Henry Segebart added 12 points and two boards.
Will Ragaller had 10 points, three boards and three steals. Derek Oeser chipped in with nine points and eight assists, while Drew Schurke had nine points, four boards, three assists and three steals.
Wyatt Neumann also had six points and 10 boards for the Rockets.
