Ar-We-Va girls stop Whiting in six innings

Jadeyn Smith allowed only two hits and struck out six, as the Ar-We-Va girls earned an 11-1 victory in six innings on Tuesday night at Whiting.

The win moved Ar-We-Va to 3-2 overall.

Down 1-0 after one inning, Ar-We-Va came back with four runs in the top of the second. The Rockets then added four more in the fourth and three in the sixth to eventually win by the 10-run rule.

Ar-We-Va tallied 14 hits in the win.

Sara Schurke went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and three stolen bases.

Leslie Luft was 2-for-4 with two runs. Hannah Kraus went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and one run.

Maggie Ragaller finished 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run. Maci Ruch also was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and one run.

Emily Hinners went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Jamie Hausman was 1-for-4 with one RBI and one run, while Maddie Owen wound up 1-for-3 with one run for the Rockets.

Smith walked two Whiting batters to go with her six Ks for the Rockets.
