The Ar-We-Va boys wrapped up their regular season in baseball on Wednesday night with a 9-4 loss to CAM at Westside.
It was the first loss in seven games for Ar-We-Va, which will open Class 1A postseason play on Saturday night with a 5 p.m. district quarterfinal game against IKM-Manning at Coon Rapids.
CAM raced out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning before Ar-We-Va rallied to tie with three runs in the bottom of the third.
CAM went up 5-3 with two runs in the fourth and Ar-We-Va got to within 5-4 with a run in the fifth.
The visiting Cougars then pushed four runs across in the top of the seventh en route to picking up their second win of the season over the Rockets.
Ar-We-Va had seven hits in the loss.
Keegan Simons went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Will Ragaller also was 2-for-3 with a double and one run batted in.
Henry Segebart went 1-for-3. Luke Smith went 1-for-3 with a double and one run, while Derek Oeser was 1-for-2 with one run for the host squad.
Drew Schurke opened on the mound for Ar-We-Va and would take the loss in three and one-third.
He allowed five runs on six hits, struck out six and walked one.
Ragaller, Segebart and Cooper Kock all saw relief time on the hill for Austin Stoelk’s club against the Cougars, which beat Ar-We-Va 7-6 earlier.
