The Charter Oak-Ute girls and Coon Rapids-Bayard boys were winners in action between the two schools on Friday night at Charter Oak.
In game one, three CO-U girls scored in double figures, as the Lady Bobcats beat the Crusaders for the second time this season with a 45-38 victory.
In game two, CR-B avenged a 24-point setback to CO-U earlier this season in a 49-46 triumph over the host Bobcats.
With Friday’s seven-point win, CO-U moved to 6-3 in the Rolling Valley Conference and 7-5 overall.
The contest was tied at 16-16 at halftime, but CO-U outscored CR-B 18-9 in the third quarter to take a 34-25 lead into the fourth.
Casey Carstens recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead CO-U’s attack.
Tori Nuzum added 11 points, five assists and four boards. Caylie Boyle also had 10 points, five boards and three blocks.
Jennifer Stallons chipped in with four points, three boards and two steals, while Taya Thomas had three points, four steals, three boards and three assists.
"This was another good team win. After a back-and-forth first half, we were able to open it up to start the second half with good ball pressure and points over turnovers," commented Charter Oak-Ute coach Derek Dougherty.
"We took advantage of every free throw opportunity, as we went eight of nine from the line," he added.
CR-B’s three-point win on Friday handed CO-U its second straight loss, as the Bobcats fell to 3-5 in the RVC and 5-6 overall.
With the win, CR-B avenged a 66-42 loss to CO-U back on November 29 at Coon Rapids.
CO-U led on Friday night by one point at halftime at 19-18, but was outscored 23-17 in the third to trail 41-36 going into the fourth.
Hunter Clausen paced CO-U with a double-double effort of 16 points and 10 boards.
Jesse Hupp added 12 points and seven boards.
Spencer Gress contributed six points and three assists. Caleb Clemon also had six points for the Bobcats.
Luke Staley also had three points with 10 assists and two steals on the night.
