D-S girls advance past Atlantic on soccer field

The Denison-Schleswig girls’ soccer team picked up a 7-5 victory over Atlantic on Monday night at Denison.

It was the second win in three matches for D-S, which improved to 5-7 overall on the year.

Alex Mohr netted four goals to lead D-S, as she upped her season total to 22 goals on the season.

Vanessa Gunderson added two goals, while Bailey Gibbons had one goal and three assists for the Monarchs, which outshot the Trojans 38-16, including 24-13 in shots on goal.

Kailey Pick played in goal for D-S and had eight saves on the night for the hosts.

"Tonight was a whirlwind game. The girls got off fast. However, Atlantic just kept battling back," commented Denison-Schleswig coach Nick Bradley.

"We did a good job of pushing the pace tonight and working together," he added.
