Kevin Dau’s Denison-Schleswig softball team picked up its fourth consecutive victory on Wednesday night, as the Monarchs posted a 13-1 triumph in three innings over Lewis Central at Denison.
The win moved D-S to 10-4 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference and 17-11 overall on the season.
D-S, which scored its 13 runs on 11 hits, plated six runs in the bottom of the first, adding two in the second and five more in the third to eventually win by the 12-run rule.
LC scored its only run in the top of the third.
Sarah Heilesen went 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored for D-S.
Paige Armijo also went 2-for-2 with a double, a home run, five runs batted in and three runs.
Kayla Rauch was 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run. Alex Mohr finished 1-for-2 with one RBI and one run.
Kambrie Dau went 1-for-1 with two RBIs and one run. Tatum Fink was 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Kailey Pick also was 1-for-1 with one RBI and one run, while Payton Goslar wound up 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
Heilesen earned the win in the circle, as she gave up just the one run on only three hits with six strikeouts and five walks.
"The girls hit the ball hard and put the ball in play. We made the defense work and that was to our advantage as Lewis Central helped us out with some errors early on," commented Dau.
"The nice thing is that we got production up and down the lineup. A lot of girls contributed and Heilesen had a nice game in the circle for us. It was just a good all-around team victory," the Monarch boss added.
