The Denison-Schleswig girls extended their win streak to eight games on Friday night with a Hawkeye 10 Conference doubleheader sweep of Council Bluffs St. Albert at Council Bluffs.
D-S won game one, 13-1 in six innings, following that up with a lopsided 17-1 triumph in five innings in game two.
The sweep improved D-S to 14-4 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference and 21-11 overall.
Kevin Dau’s D-S club raced out to a 7-0 lead after three innings en route to a 12-run victory in six innings in the opener.
Sarah Heilesen tossed a no-hitter for D-S, as she struck out a whopping 13 St. Albert batters with five walks.
At the plate for D-S, Kailey Pick went 3-for-3 with a double, one run batted in and four runs.
Payton Goslar was 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs. Alex Mohr went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and one run.
Anna Meyer also was 1-for-1 in the win.
St. Albert scored its lone run in the fourth inning.
The D-S girls collected 13 hits in game two, a 16-run triumph for the Monarchs.
Leading 8-1 after four innings, D-S pushed nine runs across in the fifth en route to the lopsided win.
Hannah Slater had a monster game for D-S at the plate by going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, four RBIs and three runs scored.
It was Slater’s second homer of the season.
Ashlynn Carlson also went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI and two runs. Alex Mohr finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs and one run.
Kayla Rauch went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and one run. Heilesen finished 1-for-1 with a home run and four runs scored, while Meyer wound up 1-for-1.
For Heilesen, the home run was her team-leading sixth of the season.
Cambri Brodersen and Hailey Meseck combined pitching efforts for the win.
Brodersen tossed three innings for the win, allowing no runs on only two hits with three strikeouts.
Meseck then went two innings in relief, yielding one run on three hits with one K to her credit.
The Monarchs had a total of nine stolen bases in the win after stealing seven in the game-one victory.
