D-S runners at Logan

The Denison-Schleswig boys ran second and girls fifth in their respective divisions at the Logan-Magnolia Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday at Logan.

On the boys’ side, D-S tallied 85 points.

Tri-Center claimed the team title with 50 points.

On the girls’ side, D-S netted 143 points.

Logan-Magnolia earned the team championship with 37 points. Woodbury Central/Kingsley-Pierson was runnerup to the Panthers with 51 points.

Varsity boys

Leo Flores paced the D-S boys on Tuesday, placing sixth overall in a time of 17 minutes, 01 seconds.

Bennett Heisterkamp of Council Bluffs St. Albert won the individual title in 15:27.09.

Logan Dahm ran 13th for D-S in 17:31. Colton Johnson took 21st in 18:01. Ricky Ledesma ran 22nd in 18:07 and Josh Ahrenholtz placed 23rd in 18:07.

Cole Carlson took 30th overall in 18:35.

"The boys ran a great race. They got out of the gate fast and held a fast pace for the entire race," commented Denison-Schleswig coach Nick Bradley.

Varsity girls

Claire Miller paced the D-S girls at Logan by placing 13th overall in 21:16.

Juliana Barajas ran 36th in 23:49. Ana Lara took 39th in 23:57. Elizabeth Cary took 49th in 24:49.

Tania Cortez finished 58th in 25:40 and Bella Araujo ran 60th in 26:05.

The individual champion on Tuesday was Peyton Pogge of Tri-Center in

a time of 18:07.73.

"We finished fifth as a team and that was good finish for them. We have to get a few girls up to the top 20 and we want to crack into the top three teams in races," Bradley said.
