Damon Ehlers drilled a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning on Friday night, as the Ar-We-Va boys picked up a 6-5 baseball victory over Woodbine at Westside.
The win was the fourth in a row for Ar-We-Va, which improved to 8-4 in the Rolling Valley Conference and 9-5 overall.
Down 5-2, Ar-We-Va scored two runs in the sixth to get to within 5-4 and then forced extra innings with a run in the last of the seventh, setting up the winning ninth for the Rockets behind Ehlers’ initial home run of his career.
Damon Ehlers went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in the contest.
Henry Segebart was 2-for-5. Derek Oeser went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run. Will Ragaller was 1-for-2 with one run and Dalton Ehlers finished 1-for-5. Luke Smith also was 1-for-4 with one RBI.
Ragaller and Drew Schurke combined pitching efforts.
Ragaller went four innings, allowing four runs on four hits with three strikeouts and two walks.
Schurke gave up just one run on no hits with four Ks over five innings.
