IKM-Manning’s 2019 baseball season came to an end on Tuesday night, as the Wolves suffered a 10-1 loss to ninth-ranked Coon Rapids-Bayard in a Class 1A district semifinal game at Coon Rapids.
The setback closed out IKM-Manning’s summer campaign at 7-17 overall.
With the win, CR-B improved to 27-4 overall and will now host Woodbine in the District 16 championship game on Saturday night at Coon Rapids at 7 p.m.
CR-B raced out to an 8-0 lead with three runs in the bottom of the second and five more in the third.
IKM-Manning scored its lone run in the top of the fourth to make it 8-1.
The host Crusaders then scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
The Wolves managed only three hits off CR-B pitchers Christian Cook and Kade Schlepp.
Cook picked up the win, as he went four innings, allowing one run on two hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.
Nolan Ramsey went 1-for-3 and scored the lone run for IKM-Manning.
Max Nielsen also went 1-for-3 and Dane Blom was 1-for-2 at the plate for the Wolves.
Nielsen threw two and two-thirds innings in taking the loss.
He gave up eight runs (three earned) on seven hits, struck out three and walked three.
Amos Rasmussen tossed one and two-thirds, yielding two runs on four hits. Connor Richards also went one and two-thirds with one K to his credit.
The District 15 title game on Saturday night at Milo features Southeast Warren against Audubon at 7 p.m.
That winner will take on the Coon Rapids-Bayard Woodbine winner in the Substate 8 championship game on Tuesday night at a site to be determined.
