IKM-Manning batters collected 10 hits and sophomore pitcher Conner Richards went the distance on the hill, as the Wolves picked up a 10-1 nonconference baseball victory over Boyer Valley on Wednesday night at Dunlap.
The win was the second in a row for IKM-Manning, which improved to 2-2 overall. With the loss, BV fell to 0-4 on the young season.
IKM-Manning jumped on BV starting pitcher Hunter Soma for three runs in the top of the first inning. The Wolves added a run in the second and three more in the third for a 7-0 advantage.
BV then plated its only run in the bottom of the third to make it 7-1.
Cory McCarville’s IKM-Manning club then tacked on a run in the sixth and two more in the seventh to end the scoring.
Richards threw all seven innings for the Wolves, as he gave up just the one run on only six hits with seven strikeouts and no walks in a 90-pitch performance.
Jerod Henkelman went 3-for-3 with two runs batted in and two runs scored to pace all IKM-Manning batters.
Alex Lingle went 2-for-5 with one RBI and two runs. Dane Blom was 2-for-4 with three runs.
Nolan Ramsey finished 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI. Ethan Carter also was 1-for-3 with one RBI and one run. Will Jorgensen went 1-for-4 with one RBI and Keaton Allmon finished 1-for-4 with one run.
For BV, Dylan Berens led the Bulldogs by going 2-for-4 with one run.
Hunter Soma was 1-for-4, as was Conlan Petersen and Kyle Hast, who also drove in Dylan Berens with his team’s lone run.
Adam Puck was 1-for-3 as well for Dan Steele’s Bulldog club.
Hunter Soma tossed six innings in taking the loss, as he yielded eight runs on nine hits with five Ks and four walks.
Hast threw the seventh inning for the Bulldogs.
