IKM-Manning concluded its baseball regular season on Tuesday night with a 9-3 nonconference loss to Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton at Elk Horn.
It was the third setback in a row for IKM-Manning, which will take a 6-16 overall record into a Class 1A district quarterfinal game against Ar-We-Va on Saturday at Coon Rapids at 5 p.m.
IKM-Manning opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the first inning, but then Exira/EH-K came right back with four runs in its initial at bat for a 4-2 lead.
The Spartans added two runs in the second and two more in the the third for a 8-2 advantage.
The Wolves plated a single run in the fourth to make it 8-3. Then the hosts scored the game’s final run in the last of the sixth.
Ethan Carter went 2-for-3 with one run scored to lead IKM-Manning.
Alex Lingle was 1-for-3 with one run.
Max Nielsen went 1-for-4 with one RBI and Amos Rasmussen finished 1-for-3 with a triple and one run.
Grant Stracke opened on the mound for the Wolves and took the loss in one and one-third, allowing six runs on two hits with one strikeout and two walks.
Rasmussen then tossed four and two-thirds, yielding three runs on five hits with three Ks and two walks.
