Kuemper Catholic broke a 2-2 tie with a run in the bottom of the fourth and went on for a 4-2 Hawkeye 10 Conference baseball victory over Denison-Schleswig on Tuesday night at Carroll.
The loss was the third in four games for D-S, which slipped to 10-6 in the H-10 and 12-9 overall on the season.
The win for Kuemper Catholic avenged a 7-6 loss to D-S back on June 10 at Denison, as the Knights moved to 10-8 in conference play and 14-11 overall.
The two teams combined for 10 hits, as the game featured a nice pitching matchup between Braiden Heiden of D-S and Aaron Schreck of Kuemper Catholic.
Heiden threw six innings, yielding four runs on only four hits with eight strikeouts and four walks.
Schreck, meanwhile, tossed all seven innings for the Knights, allowing two runs on six hits with six Ks and no walks.
Carter Wessel paced the D-S batters by going 2-for-2 with a double and one run. Nathan Gallup was 1-for-3 with one run.
Dylan Gehlsen also went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Jack Mendlik and Dawson Dorhout each went 1-for-3 as well.
Both D-S and Kuemper Catholic stranded four runners on the bases.
Kuemper Catholic won the JV game, 5-1.
Parker Bekkerus, Carlos Salazar and Caden Fletcher all had hits for D-S with Trey Brotherton scoring one run.
