After receiving a first-round bye, Boyer Valley opened up Class 1A regional play on Monday night with a 3-1 quarterfinal victory over Woodbine at Woodbine.
Larry Neilsen’s BV club defeated the host Tigers, 23-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-21.
With the win, BV improved to 14-13 overall in matches and 38-37 in games going into Thursday’s Region 2 semifinal contest against Fremont-Mills at Woodbine.
Katy Puck led all BV servers by going 21-of-22 with five aces to her credit.
Katelyn Neilsen was 17-of-17 with three aces on the night. Abby Burkhart was 15-of-15 with two aces. Jessica Fokken also went 15-of-17 with three aces. Abbie Miller finished 14-of-18 with two aces as well.
Fokken led the Lady Bulldogs at the net with 26 kills. Chelsey Fundermann added 14 kills.
Burkhart chipped in with four kills, while Miller and Marie Hanigan each had three kills.
Miller had a team-high 36 assists.
Neilsen and Puck each tallied 14 digs. Jessica Heiman had seven digs, while Miller and Taylor Klein each wound up with five digs.
Fokken had two solo blocks and one block assist. Burkhart also had one solo block and one block assist for the winners.
