The Denison-Schleswig softball team moved to 2-0 overall after a 16-1 victory in three innings over Boyer Valley on Thursday night at Denison.
One night after tossing a no-hitter against Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln, D-S senior pitcher Sarah Heilesen gave up just one hit against a BV team that committed four errors in the contest.
Heilesen struck out three and walked one.
Down 1-0, D-S plated six runs in its first at bat for a 6-1 lead. The Monarchs then scored four runs in the second and six more in the third to win the game by the 12-run rule.
With D-S up 12-1 in the bottom of the third, the game ended on a grand slam home run by Alex Mohr, who went 1-for-3 overall with five runs batted in.
Kayla Rauch also went 2-for-2 with four RBIs and two runs. Kailey Pick was 2-for-2 with one RBI and one run.
Paige Armijo went 1-for-1 with a triple and three runs. Kambrie Dau went 1-for-1 with one RBI and one run.
Payton Goslar finished 1-for-3 with one RBI and one run, while Tatum Fink was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and one run.
For BV, Cooper had her team’s lone hit, a single, and also scored the only run for the Lady Bulldogs in the first inning.
Nicole Behrendt took the pitching loss for BV, as she struck out one and walked seven.
