Denison-Schleswig hosted its own softball tournament on Saturday and the Monarchs suffered a pair of losses to Sioux City North and Sergeant Bluff-Luton.
North beat D-S 13-10 in a high-scoring affair, while SB-L was an 11-1 winner in five innings over Kevin Dau’s D-S club that fell to 11-9 overall on the season.

The D-S girls outhit Sioux City North, 11-9, but the Monarchs committed seven errors defensively in their three-run loss to the Stars.
Alex Mohr paced D-S at the plate by going 4-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, two runs batted in and four runs scored.
Sarah Heilesen was 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs.
Paige Armijo went 1-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and one run.
Kayla Rauch was 1-for-3. Kambrie Dau went 1-for-4. Kira Langenfeld was 1-for-2 with one run, as was Anna Meyer.
Heilesen tossed four and two-thirds innings in taking the loss, as she gave up 11 runs on six hits with five strikeouts and nine walks.
Hailey Meseck also went one and one-third, allowing two runs on three hits with one walk.
Sergeant Bluff-Luton set the tone right away in their lopsided victory over D-S on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors plated eight runs in their first at bat and led 11-0 before the Monarchs scored their lone run in the fifth.
D-S managed only five hits in the loss.
Raegan Andersen went 1-for-2 with one run.
Dau went 1-for-1 at the plate. Tatum Fink was 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Langenfeld also went 1-for-2 and Paige Kastner wound up 1-for-1.
Heilesen tossed one-third of an inning, allowing six runs on no hits with four walks.
Meseck went two-thirds of an inning, yielding two runs on one hit with one walk. Cambri Brodersen also threw three and one-third, as she gave up three runs on six hits, struck out one and walked one.
