Ar-We-Va’s postseason softball run came to an end on Friday night, as the Rockets suffered a 10-0 loss to Ridge View in a Class 1A, Region 2 semifinal contest at Onawa.
Ar-We-Va, which beat Council Bluffs St. Albert and then upset 12th-ranked West Harrison in regional games, saw it season stopped at 9-12 overall.
The Rockets managed only four hits all night with singles by Hannah Kraus, Emily Hinners, Jadeyn Smith and Maddie Owen.
Smith took the pitching loss for Ar-We-Va, as she gave up the 10 runs on 12 hits with one strikeout.
"We didn’t help ourselves out a lot in this game, but the girls played hard and deserved to be in this game," commented Ar-We-Va coach Kenzie Kock.
"We had a young team with only two seniors and I just told the girls in our huddle that we’ll be a force to recken with next year. It was just a frustrating way to go out, because we were playing a lot better than we looked tonight," she added.
Friday’s game was the final contest for Rocket seniors Hinners and Owen.
