Rocket girls shut out by Spartans

Rocket softball vs. Spartans

The Ar-We-Va girls concluded their regular season on Monday night with a 3-0 loss to Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton at Kimballton.

Ar-We-Va, with the setback, finished 5-9 in the Rolling Valley Conference and fell to 7-11 overall heading into a Class 1A regional first-round matchup with Council Bluffs St. Albert on Monday night at Council Bluffs.

The Rockets managed six hits in the loss, led by Maggie Ragaller, who went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.

Leslie Luft, Kora Obrecth, Maci Ruch and Maddie Owen all hit safely with singles for the Rockets.

Exira/EH-K scored two runs in the fourth and tallied game’s final run in the fifth.

Jadeyn Smith suffered the pitching loss, as she gave up the three runs on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
