Rocket teams in action at Jim Yunek Relays

Rockets at Lake City

The Ar-We-Va girls and boys placed sixth in their respective divisions at the Jim Yunek Relays on Friday at Lake City.

On the girls’ side, Ar-We-Va netted 44 team points. Pocahontas Area was your team champion with 116 points.

On the boys’ side, Ar-We-Va finished with a 23 team points.

South Central Calhoun claimed the team title with 177 points.

Girls’ results

Jadeyn Smith and Emily Hinners each won individual titles for Ar-We-Va.

Smith took gold in the shot put with a toss of 36 feet, five and 3/4 inches.

Hinners, meanwhile, won the discus with a throw of 97-5. She was second to Smith in the shot put with a heave of 35-1.

Smith and Hannah Kraus finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 100-meter dash in times of 13.94 and 14.02.

The 4x100 relay team of Kraus, Jordan Hanson, Sara Schurke and Smith ran fourth in 58.67.

Boys’ results

Will Ragaller paced the Ar-We-Va boys, as he won the long jump with an effort of 17-8.

The Rockets’ sprint medley relay team of Cooper Kock, Riley Neumann, Ragaller and Dalton Ehlers ran third in 1:47.74.

Keaton Rosener took fifth in the 1,600-meter run in 5:22.27.

Kock ran fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.94.
