Rockets vs. Tigers

Woodbine netted 11 total touchdowns in the Tigers’ 79-16 non-district victory over Ar-We-Va on Friday night at Westside.

The loss dropped Ar-We-Va to 1-2 overall on the year, while the win improved Woodbine to 2-0 on the young season.

Woodbine, which led 28-14 after the first quarter, outscored the Rockets 51-2 the rest of the way, as the Tigers accumulated over 500 yards in total offense.

Wyatt Pryor completed 12-of-21 passes for 386 yards with seven touchdown passes for the Tigers, including a long of 69 yards.

Caleb Wakehouse led Woodbine on the ground, rushing six times for 84 yards with two TDs.

Lane Pryor and Brock Leaders both had big nights in receiving for the Tigers.

Pryor caught five balls for 143 yards and four TDs, while Leaders had four grabs for 192 yards and two scores.

Both Ar-We-Va TDs were scored by Will Ragaller in the first quarter on runs of 4 and 16 yards, respectively.

The Rockets picked up two points late in the third quarter on a safety after a punt snap went over the punter’s head and out of bounds.

Ragaller, on the night, carried the ball 21 times for 134 yards. He also had 181 yards in kickoff returns.

Cooper Kock was 3-of-10 for eight yards with one interception in the passing department for the Rockets.

Damon Ehlers ran the ball 12 times for 62 yards.

Defensively for Ar-We-Va, Dalton Ehlers and Cody Self each had four tackles.

Damon Ehlers, Ragaller and Kock all had three tackles.

"Woodbine did a good job of taking advantage of their talented skill players. The combination of the two Pryor kids, the Wakehouse kid out of the backfield and the Leaders kid at wide receiver were more than we could handle," commented Ar-We-Va coach Chris Petersen.

"I was pleased with our ability to move the ball on the ground, as we rushed for over 200 yards as a team, but we turned the ball over six times, including twice inside our opponent’s 10-yard line."

"We cant afford to turn the ball over that many times and still be competitive. We will work on some of our ball control and execution issues this week to get ready for our district opener against West Bend-Mallard on Friday night," Petersen said.
