Rockets knock off Spartans on the road

The Ar-We-Va boys snapped a two-game losing streak on Thursday night with a 7-1 Rolling Valley Conference baseball victory over Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton at Elk Horn.

The win moved Ar-We-Va to 5-4 in the RVC and 6-5 overall.

Ar-We-Va opened the game with four runs in the top of the first inning, adding single runs in the second, third and fourth to make it 7-0 at the time.

Exira/EH-K scored its lone run in the bottom of the fifth.

The Rockets collected 12 hits on the night.

Cooper Kock went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in to lead Ar-We-Va.

Keegan Simons went 3-for-5 with a double, one RBI and two runs.

Will Ragaller was 2-for-4 with one run. Drew Schurke finished 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and one run.

Dalton Ehlers went 1-for-3 with one run and Luke Smith wound up 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Henry Segebart tossed all seven innings for the winners, allowing just the one run on only three hits with 10 strikeouts and no walks.
