Underwood picked up a pair of nonconference basketball victories over Boyer Valley on Thursday night at Dunlap.
In game one, Underwood got a steal and layup in the final seconds, as the Eagles earned a 45-43 victory over Larry Neilsen’s BV club.
In the nightcap, Underwood outscored BV 17-2 in the second quarter en route to a 41-27 triumph over the host Bulldogs.
BV’s two-point loss dropped the Lady Bulldogs to 4-10 overall on the season.
BV led 36-32 to start a wild fourth that went back and forth the whole way.
Underwood led 38-36 with six minutes left and it was tied at 40-40 a minute later. BV then led 43-42 with four minutes remaining, but would not score again.
Tied at 43-43 with six seconds left, BV had the ball on the side, but an inbounds pass resulted in a steal and a layup for Underwood for the win.
Katelyn Neilsen led BV with 14 points and six steals.
Chelsey Fundermann added eight points, 10 rebounds and three steals.
Katy Puck tallied seven points, two assists and two steals. Abby Burkhart also had six points and 12 boards, while Marie Hanigan wound up with six points, three boards, three assists and three steals.
BV’s 27 points were a season-low, as the Bulldogs fell to 6-7 overall with Thursday’s 14-point setback at home.
Underwood led 25-9 at halftime and that was the difference, as BV would outscore the Eagles 18-16 in the second half.
Lucas Berens paced the BV boys with nine points and three shot blocks.
Dylan Berens added seven points, seven boards and two blocks.
Grant Kenkel also had seven points and three boards. Gavin Reineke finished with three points, seven boards and three assists for the Bulldogs, which wound up 1-of-11 from three-point range.
